This study programme focuses on the realization of applied photography tasks through the media of photography and moving image. Core areas are the exploration and elaboration of new solutions (with regard to both contents and technique), the development of a visual identity and the creation of an individual imagery. Important personal requirements include curiosity and power of imagination, intuition, social competence and perseverance.

Students will need to dedicate about 35 hours a week to their studies.

Entrance Exam 2022, Part 1 (online)


From 12 to 28 January 2022 (each 11:59 p.m., Vienna time/CET) upload of application documents.

The application documents will be submitted in digital form. All documents must be sent to us in one PDF file. The PDF must not exceed 50MB and must contain the following:

1. registration on the university application website with the following personal information:

After registration, the access data for the portfolio upload will be sent to the specified email.

2. upload of the portfolio PDF. The PDF can be overwritten until the deadline. The PDF file that is on our server after the deadline is valid.

Entrance Exam 2022, Part 2


February 21 to February 25, 2022, daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. examination and short interviews at the Dept. of Applied Photography and Time-Based Media, Oskar Kokoschka-Platz 2, staircase 2 (courtyard)/4th floor, 1010 Vienna. If travel is not possible due to corona, the interview can optionally take place online.
