'Why Sonora' explores the longing to travel in a time where traveling is for now neither possible nor sustainable. Inspired by Michael Lundgren's extraterrestrial works from the Sonoran Desert, I decided to take an imaginary trip during the Corona Lockdown. Sometimes I think that I have had wanderlust since I can remember. Arizona combines many things that I long for and fear at the same time when I dream about traveling – silence, loneliness, being on my own. The idea of driving through these impressive landscapes with a truck and a camera, sleeping in motels and eating in a diner is certainly an old(, still male-dominated) USA cliché, but it has inspired this series.
